I'm Melting, melting.....

Ever have one of those days that you feel like the wicked witch of the west when she had a bucket of water tossed on her? This whole weekend was like that for me. For those of you who don't know, my apartment is on the third floor and has tons of windows. So, if it is hot at all outside it is BAKING in my apartment. Our poor air conditioning cannot keep up. In fact, twice this week the power went out and my poor hubby and I just had to sweat it out. Such a gross thing when you are trying to sleep. Lucklily I had plans all day Saturday so I could escape my hot apartment. UNFORTUNTLY my plans included an all day wedding....outside...90 degress....outside....running around.....in all black clothes. Suffice to say it was an inetersting day. Although, I did think the wedding was lovely and I had a great time, as ususl.

I did get to take some detail shots, of the reception, with my camera. You should be able to see them on the wonderfully talented Jennifer Johnson's, of OC's Finest, blog.

I, also, got the chance to chat with the real photographer at the wedding, Mrs. Renee Broughton. I was telling her how I was interested in possibly stepping into the world of Photography. She was so nice to answer my questions about her camera and whatnot. She even told me that she would let me tag along to some of her wedding!!!! How nice is she? When I said I was interested in taking some classes she suggested I check out Orange Cost College, since they have a really nice photography program.

Hopefully there will be lots more chances for me to 'get my feet wet' with the whole photography thing.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend,
BriannaNichole!

Wedding Photography, WHAT?!

OK, so I swear I am not obsessed with weddings, I just really like them. The bride and groom promising to love one another for all eternity, the dress, the flowers, all the happy people...it's magical. A lot of you know that I have dabbled in a few wedding business'. I have made; bios (mini web sites) for brides, wedding stationary and even worked as an assistant wedding coordinator. It may seem to some that I am obsessed with weddings.

If you know me, you know I am totally into photography right now. I have always really loved photography, but never had any nice equipment. I got more into wedding photography after two things happened;

1) I started looking at a million wedding pictures while planning my wedding. I especially loved the photojournalistic style. It was like wedding art and that really appealed to me.

2) I was really unhappy with the pictures that my wedding photographer did for me. I mean really unhappy. I had seen so many beautiful wedding pictures and I thought mine were going to be beautiful to. I started learning photoshop so that I could editmy own pictures and hopefully make them into something that I could love.

A while back my hubby and I decided that we wanted to purchase a really nice SLR camera. My hubby is super into photography too, and he is pretty good. The more I started playing with my camera the more people started asking me if I wanted to become a wedding photographer. Since they knew my track record with wedding businesses it was a natural progression of thought. I kept saying; no, I could never do that, It's too much pressure, I don't want to deal with brides or even my camera is not nice enough. But secretly, inside, I was thinking I really want to do this!

After thinking about it for a very long time. I decided that I am going to take some photography classes. If nothing ever comes of it then I have a new hobby that I really enjoy and can actually use. I am excited, and a little scared to jump into something new. To tell the truth I am, also, kinda worried about what people are going to say. I know it is not that big of a deal and I shouldn't care, but it is what it is.

For the time being I am content to take wedding pictures for the Lovely Jennifer Johnson from OCs Finest weddings and taking pictures here and there. If anyone knows someone who wants a free engagement, or similar, shoot let me know. I would love to hone my skill.

I have gotten some really nice compliments on my pics so far, and that makes me feel really encouraged. In fact, one gal told me that I was better than some photographers she knew. Now, I'm not so sure about that, but it's nice to be told.

I hope everyone has a happy Friday and an even better weekend.

Hugs,
Brianna!

Happy Sunday Night All...

Well, it is another weekend down the tube. It sucks to be going back to work, although there are two good points:
1. The air conditioning is really good in my office. This just means I will not have to be sweating all day like in my ghetto apartment.
2. I am not yet sick of my new job. In fact, the old manager (the one I am replacing) is now gone, which makes my job oh so much easier. Its not that I didn't like him, I didn't even know him, it's just that it's hard to make changes when people are resisting them.

I swear every time I leave my parents house I am sore. Why you ask me? Well, it is because my family is psyco and likes to work out all the time. This is why everytime I head over there for a relaxing day of laying in the backyard sunbathing, I end up doing some kind of strange new exersize my Dad has come up with. You would think that I would be used to it and in shape at this point, but you would be wrong. On Friday night I headed down to my parents house to hang out and ended up spending the night. It was really nice to get to sit in the spa and chat with my dad and then hang w/ my mom. If you have never met my parents I highly recommend you head down to South OC and meet them. They are lovely people, but maybe I'm a little bias. I digress. Saturday my sister came down and we all got to catch some sun in their backyard. My dad showed me some new exersizes with his new workout toy. Essentiually its a really long pipe with water in it. It makes you have to really balance while holding it. The water sloshes around so it is kinda hard.

On Sunday my hubby and I went to see The Hulk and The Happening. Yes, we saw two movies. We snuck into the second one!!!! I felt like I was doing something really wrong even though my hubby assured me that it was ok. Both movies were pretty good, although I am sure they could have been better. It is way too hot in the office for me to go into a full review. So, I'll just say they were ok.

I did get a chance to take some sunset pictures. I know, you are all shocked because I never post sunset pictures. I just could not resist the amazing sunsets we have had the past few nights.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I promise to post those babyshower pics soon.

Hug,
BN!

Game Over :(

Well, not so much the game as the weekend. This weekend was nice, if a tad too short. On Saturday I got to hang out with my hubby a bit. We headed up to Sammy's Camera in Costa Mesa to look at lenses for our camera. He wanted to get a telescopic lense and I wanted a wide angle. What did we learn? They are both wayyyyy out of our price range!!! I am loving this photography hobby, but it is turning out to be an exensive one. Granted, I didn't expect them to be 25 bucks, but not 2 grand for an ok lens. I guess I will have to make due with what I have for now. Although I do have my eye on a better flash.

Later we headed to Olive Garden for a late lunch. I keep forgetting how much I like that place. Dan had a headach so he went home and I went out to the movies with my brother. I haven't gotten to hang out with Devin in a while, so it was really nice that it ended up just being the two of us. We went to go see Zohan, but the movie was so crowded....like front row seating only, that we suck into Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Devin had already seen it but he said he would totally go again because it was really funny. I wasn't so sure, but I went along anyway. The movie was hilarous! There wasn't 5 minutes that went by that I wasn't laughing. I think I even snorted a time or two. I would suggest going to see it. It totally exceeded my expectations.

On Sunday (today...prob yesterday for most of you reading this, I got to go to my cousin's baby shower. I got a bunch of great pictures so I will be posting them later in the week, heaven forbid I post pics without photoshopping them ;). My cousin Breanne, actually she married my cousin Nick, is just about the cutes thing you have ever seen. She was Snow White, Ariel and a bunch of other Disney Pincesses at Disneyland. She totally looks like a pregnant Snow White in these pictures. She is a sweetheart too! She is def. a welcome addition to our family. Her and her hubby may be moving up to my neck of the woods soon, so that makes me happy too.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I have to appologise for my lack of blogging, again! I have been so busy at work that I really haven't had the time or inclination to blog.
Hugs,
BriannaNichole!
