It is that time again to succumb to my hair ADD and change my style, again. This seems to be a trend with me, all this cutting and growing and cutting and growing. It is becoming a cycle that repeats every few years.

I'm sure you don't need me to expand on the reasons for cutting my hair, so I will list them simply and succinctly:
1. Takes to long to dry/style
2. Season is getting warmer and my hair is not helping me stay cool
3. No volume, even when it has layers it has no volume

And probably the biggest reason for the change....
4. Boredom

So now it's time to start thinking about and researching new styles that I want to try. I'm thinking maybe shoulder length this time so as not to go too short. I think I want to get some bangs back in there too.

Maybe getting the fringe bangs back like this:

Or some heavy straight across ones:

What sort of crazy hairstyle/hair color would you love to sport but are too afraid to?

BTW I swear I will post more. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, no longer am I forced to surf the net from my old computer chair. And by 'old computer chair' I mean one of my dining room table chairs. Yeah, I'm that ghetto. The other nice thing was that Mr. Dan put it together for me so he didn't have to hear me throw a fit when I couldn't figure it out.

Last weekend we had a crazy ass storm, yes that is the technical term, and it blew a tree down on our house. Super scary! It broke a few tiles but other than that there was no damage. These are the times that I am actually glad we rent instead of own. I wasn't able to get a great shot of the tree, but it was about 25ft long. Yikes!

This weekend was blessedly rain free. I feel slightly jipped since we were promised two full days of rain. The hubs and I were going to take advantage of the clear skies but we got lazy(enter shocked sounds here). Not much to tell other than work being crazy and anticipating a trip from the Coles.

That is about it, I promise I will have a better blog next time. Although, did you notice the new header I cranked out? That has got to be worth something. I mean it pretty much sapped all my creative energy and left none for the actual blog content.

Hugs and Whatnot,

BriannaNichole!

BriannaNicholehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02586355738160439090noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7352672371726927596.post-15926889018605600662011-02-03T09:32:00.000-08:002011-02-03T09:36:24.791-08:00Happy Birthday Nelli
Yesterday was my my sisters bday. Contrary to the lack of blog updates, I am still alive and well. I thought I might give a little update of what has been happening with me since in the past few months, but I feel I need to tackle a much more important topic. One that is near and dear to all of us. Yes, you are correct I am talking about Makeup. More specifically about my search for the perfect foundation.

It all started a few years back when MAC did the unthinkable, they discontinued my FAVORITE foundation. Oh they told me that mixing the <a href="http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/178/364/Strobe-Cream/index.tmpl" target="_blank"">Strobe Creme with another liquid foundation would give me the same result, but that was just a dirty lie.

I tried making due with the other MAC liquid foundations without ever finding one that I loved as much as the Hypereal. First the color was wrong, its finish wasn't the same and it wasn't my foundation that I came to know and love.

About a year ago I found the wonder that is Bare Minerals. It took me a little to adjust to using just powder, but once I did I fell in love. She never sat in my wrinkles, she had a beautiful finish and she lasted all day! Best part was the lack of little black makeup brush hairs that my liquid had left behind. Was this it, my new makeup home? It really felt to good to be true and it was.

The makeup gods conspired against me, once more. As soon as I would start to sweat the Bare Minerals would cause my face to itch. Apparently this is due to a nasty little component called Ismuth Oxychloride, or so the Internet tells me.

It was back to the makeup drawing board for me. My in-depth research has yielded yet another option. I like to call it my hybrid-foundation-mineral solution. My solution consists of:

MAC's Prep & Prime Skin Base Visage - To shellac the skin and hopefully not let anything settle into my wrinkles. Got to be safe now I'm 30.

MAC's Pro Longwear Foundation - To keep the bare minerals from touching any actual skin.

MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer - Gotta get rid of the bags yo.

Bare Minerals Fair Powder - To get the smooth powder look and hide any imperfections.

Bare Minerals Hydrating Mineral Veil - Just cuz I didn't have enough makeup on before.

The I top it all up with a crap-load of bronzer, blush and eye makeup, just because that is how I roll. Hopefully this will be the trick and I will not have to continue on my search for more makeup.

So for all you out there who have been wondering how I have been fairing these past few months, this post if for you.

Love you all,

Brianna!
BriannaNicholehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02586355738160439090noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7352672371726927596.post-49266263402891693402010-11-05T10:10:00.000-07:002010-11-05T10:26:14.378-07:00Utah and Other RandomnessI had a friend mention yesterday that they didn't like blogs that were all me, me, me. It got me worried a little bit about the content of my blog. Then I decided I didn't so much care. This blog is titled the Fabulous BriannaNichole, I happen to be BriannaNichole ergo my blog is all about ME and my life.

With that being said, here are some pictures including me. While digging through My Pictures folder I found some of the trip Shell and I took to visit her sister in Utah. I thought I would share those and some other randomness thrown in.

Since I was soooo proud of my Snooki costume I really had to include a picture. It seriously took me about 2 hours to get the look right. I had crazy dark powder not only on my face, but all over my neck, chest and arms. Luckily I had a bumpit on hand so I didn't need to rat my hair too much. What you cannot see in this picture is the great fuzzy slippers I had.

Here are the Utah pics. We loved the rustic feel of the mountain town Laurie lived in.

Shell and I goofing around in the snow.

If you read the last post you got to see Shell's picture with the bear. Here is my turn to give him a little love.

Laurie preferred the moose.

Shell and I decided to take Emma up the mountain to get some real snow.

Little Emma Lu, she is so grown up now. *tear*

Ok funny, at least to me, story. Emma fell in LOVE with this little zebra Laurie had in the house. Emma had it attached to her hip the whole trip. To avoid a major meltdown she let Emma take it home with her.

Here it is riding the moving sidewalk with us at the airport.

Emma booting him up so he can see the TV better.

Shelley sharing her dinner.

And me letting him have a sip of my wine, I'm so nice.

Random picture Dan took forever ago. I stuck it in here to make me feel bad about my weight gain. *sigh* BTW if you look at the pics on the wall you can see my magazine pic of the dress I was going to wear to Denielle's wedding. Not sure why I needed that.

One of Denielle's bdays. Hope you enjoyed it, I certainly did.

XOXO Brianna-don.
BriannaNicholehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02586355738160439090noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7352672371726927596.post-38557749379365689912010-11-04T07:01:00.000-07:002010-11-04T14:26:38.208-07:00To Amazing PeopleI am so very lucky to have so many amazing people in my life. I have a wonderful husband, parents any kid would be thrilled to have, a sister who doubles as a best friend, a brother who has to be the funniest person I know and who is married to person who I couldn't adore more if I picked her out myself (seriously, good job Devo), grandparents who are the most generous loving people in the world, aunts and uncles who are always there for me and a boat load of cousins who all in their own way create a rainbow that just rounds out my family perfectly. Yet, there is a cousin who will always hold a very special place in my heart. At 10 months older and an inch taller I have always looked up to her. I would opt for her hand me downs, instead of my new clothes just because I wanted to be like her. Yes, I am talking about this girl.

Yeah that bear loves her too. Shelley Belly has been one of my best friends for as long as I can remember. When I was 11 and she moved to my city I was thrilled. Between bike rides to the Yummy Yogurt and hours strutting around with water balloon boobs, I was in hog heaven. As we grew up; the bike rides became trips to the Fishermans and evenings spent watching Friends over glasses of chardonnay.

Shelley has always been there for me. Whether its a listening ear, someone to cry with me, design advice or someone to raise a glass of wine with. I will never forget our nights of KJ and talks. Shelley has such an amazing heart, she would give you the shirt off her back and then cook you dinner, all while having a beautiful family and a clean house.

Shell-Bell I love you more than I can say and I miss you so much. You are one of the best people I know. You are beautiful both inside and out. I am proud to call you friend, cousin and sister. I mean who can blog when all they can hear is ...'thou shalt not killll'?

This seems to sum up my year of blogging. I haven't been able to find anything mildly interesting to talk about. I do have pumpkin patch pictures to share (you're welcome Denielle) but that is about it. Maybe I can start with the biggest thing that happened this year.

Insert funeral music here. I turned 30 this year. *gasp* It was every bit as hard as I though it was going to be. September 20th seemed to loom before me like the dark death cloud it was. Whoever said 30 was the new 20 was lying to you. 30 is the new 30 and it comes with a whole bag of fun. Like the wrinkles, those are extra special. When I brought up the possibility of botox Dan shot me down like I was asking for a man on the side, but I digress. I seriously could not find anything positive about being 30 unless it was on the scale. Apparently those number have been on the positive since I got married, I blame Dan.

Alright enough of the gloom and doom from me. I got a chance to go to the local pumpkin patch with Denielle and the kids. (hold on Dan is explaining to me why the drum sounds like it does on the current song he is playing) Ok so it was nice, I mean other parent and kids make me want to cut someone and if I never have to dig for another pumpkin it will be too soon, but the kids had fun and I got some cute pictures.

Mason really didn't want to have his picture taken so I had to trick him.

Trying to hide from me, good thing Denielle is so small. I had a wonderful time yesterday hanging out at my Aunt Holly's for Easter, I will post about it tomorrow when I get all the pics up. In the mean time I wanted to do a little shout out post to my cousin Allie (aka: Allie P, Allison, Alice or as I like to call her Big Al).

I have always had a special place in my heart for Allie. Maybe it was because I felt bad that she was surrounded by all those brothers, perhaps because she looks so much like my sister Denielle, all the time I spent babysitting her or the fact that she would look like a fool dancing around a room and not care.

It is always nice when you find out that people actually ready you blog. I mean, who really cares about my senseless ramblings about weddings, photography, my obsession with Twilight and my cramps? Well, Allie does! Thanks Big Al! So here is a shout out to my cousin Allie. You have grown up to be a beautiful girl on the inside and out and you are turning out to be one of the best Mommies I know. I know life holds so many wonderful and amazing adventures for you.

Hugs,
BriannaNichole!BriannaNicholehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02586355738160439090noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7352672371726927596.post-51166923640209680402009-03-19T12:28:00.000-07:002009-03-19T12:33:53.101-07:00Things That Make me Happy, Thursday Edition.Things that are making me Happy today:

1. They suggested that your pictures might turn out better when they are in Vivid mode. Today I took some pictures of the flowers in my front yard in Vivid and Natural mode to see what looked better. Plus I wanted to try out my telephoto lens in manual mode.

I'm not sure if I mixed up the photos or if the cloud cover had something to do with it, but the photos in Vivid mode did not turn out AT ALL. I am thinking that it might look a little different in the sunlight and/or on skin tone.

Photo in Vivid mode. In efforts to learn more about my camera, and photography in general I have been scouring the Internet for information. I am happy to say that there is soooo much information online. In the last few days I have figured out a bunch of useful settings that have made my pics look much better. The two that I am having the most fun with are the digital fill flash and the sharpness. I am sure you can find some better definitions online, but this is my blog so I will give you my definitions :).

The Fill Flash is another way to use the flash on your camera. You would use it when there is a bright light behind the subject or any other time that your subject is in the shadows. You use your regular flash but you put it on a really low setting. I had to play around with mine a bit until I got it right. I will use and example of my couch since I get off too late to get one in the sun.

Here is the image without the flash on.

Here is the same picture with the flash set really low. See how it removed most of the shadows. Again I realize it's not the best example but you get the idea.

I also figured out how to up the sharpness on my photos. They look way better. I took some great examples last night but I cannot post them because they are of the my hubby while he was cleaning the dishes. I didn't think you all wanted to see what my dirty dishes look like. Oh yeah, my hubby cleans the dishes. Is he the best, or what?!

If that was not enough; I installed Lightroom today. Not sure how I am going to use it in conjunction yet, but I'm happy to have it. I was just playing around with it and it is pretty cool. The built in presets work really well. It seems like it would be really good for people who are not quite ready to learn/pay for Photoshop.

Happy Learning,
BriannaNichole!BriannaNicholehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02586355738160439090noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7352672371726927596.post-24497211661534100722009-03-08T18:04:00.000-07:002009-03-09T09:31:21.232-07:00Shower PicturesDon't worry it's not what you think! There she showed us how to take better photos. We talked about how to adjust the F-Stop/Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. I have to admit that it was a bit confusing at first, but Erin was a patient teacher and was willing to answer the same questions again and again. What was the most helpful was the two gorgeous models that sat for us. The two little girls were overly precious and were so patient with all pictures.

As the day went on my photos got a little better, but that wasn't difficult since my first pictures didn't start out that great. I did find out that I have a great knack for taking pictures with funky shadows, the sides of people's faces and of the back of their heads. YAY me <eye roll>. My pictures seem to have a lot of noise and they are just not that sharp. I would love to have a real pro take a pic with my camera and see if it is me or the camera. As much as I would like to blame it on thew camera, I am sure it is just user error.

I came to the conclusion that I do need a better camera/lens. I think I might want to get a Cannon or Nikon for my next camera. It seems like there are a lot more accessories and help for those models. I will have to really learn more about my camera and taking pictures in general before I even think about buying more equipment. I think that all I need now is more practice and some models to practice on.

Here is Erin showing us how to set our cameras. I was a bit better with the lighting, but I still have a lot to practice and learn.

Even though I was unhappy with the pictures I took, it was almost nice to make the mistakes. It gave me a chance to see what the problems were so I could start working on improving.

Have a great rest of the weekend!
BriannaNichole!BriannaNicholehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02586355738160439090noreply@blogger.com4
